Everything about our vineyard is carefully designed to produce high-quality wines. Due to the rocky soil, we plant each vine by hand and use high-density planting at 2,000 vines per acre. In fact, most of our vineyard work and harvesting is done by hand to ensure close attention to detail. We emphasize sustainable farming and a vineyard-centric approach to grow balanced, premium grapes. Our special trellis system encourages healthy competition among the vines, so each vine produces less fruit but with greater concentration and ripeness by the end of the season. With mostly southern exposure, our vineyard provides the ideal conditions for ripening red grape varieties.
We focus on sustainability in the vineyard and winery. We utilize light cultivation under the vines for weed control in lieu of herbicides. We have wildflower and beneficial native plantings that surround the vineyard to attract beneficial insects and birds, which help keep pests at manageable levels. Additionally, we compost all grape skins, stalks, and pruning materials, which are then spread beneath the vine rows each season. Ultimately, the estate is our home, our family lives here, and we aim to keep the land, soil, vineyard, and surrounding ecosystem healthy.
We grow Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot—all from ENTAV clones planted on Riparia rootstock. We focus on dry European inspired wines. We only grow vinifera grapes and believe these wines need the least intervention overall in the vineyard and winery. We do not make a ton of different wines. We focus on growing premium grapes and making artisan small lot wines from those grapes.
As of now we are only shipping within the state of Pennsylvania.
Once we receive your order, we aim to get it in the mail within a day or two at most. However, if the weather is too warm or too cold, we may choose to delay shipping to protect your wine. Extreme temperatures can affect the quality and taste of wine, so waiting for suitable weather helps ensure it arrives in perfect condition. If an order is delayed due to weather, we will notify you as soon as possible.
We will replace or refund any bottle of wine that arrives damaged, is flawed, or is otherwise unsatisfactory. To process a replacement, we ask that you return the unfinished portion of the original bottle. Due to legal restrictions, we can only accept returns of alcoholic beverages that are corked or otherwise flawed. We are unable to accept returns for wine damaged by weather during shipment or for orders placed in error. To initiate a return for a corked or flawed bottle, please email us at info@rienziwinery.com. Once we receive the returned wine, we will issue a refund to your credit card for the cost of the wine, minus any shipping and handling fees. If the original shipment was damaged or flawed, you will receive a full refund, including shipping and handling.
