About Our Vineyard
Our Vineyard Practices, Sustainability, and Stewardship
Everything about our vineyard is carefully designed to produce high-quality wines. Due to the rocky soil, we plant each vine by hand and use high-density planting at 2,000 vines per acre. In fact, most of our vineyard work and harvesting is done by hand to ensure close attention to detail. We emphasize sustainable farming and a vineyard-centric approach to grow balanced, premium grapes. Our vertical shoot trellis system encourages healthy competition among the vines, so each vine produces less fruit but with greater concentration and ripeness by the end of the season. With mostly southern exposure, our vineyard provides the ideal conditions for ripening red grape varieties.
We have been growing grapes on the property since 2012 and have been crafting wine from those grapes ever since. Over the years, we’ve honed our vineyard practices and winemaking techniques to produce wines that truly express the unique character of our land.
Regrettably, we’re not open to the public at this time, but we hope to change that in the future. In the meantime, our wines are available for purchase online.
Yes, we do grow our own grapes. Each vine is carefully planted and tended to by hand, allowing us to maintain close control over the quality and health of the fruit. Growing our own grapes gives us the ability to nurture the vines according to the unique conditions of our vineyard site—from soil composition to microclimate—ensuring that every grape contributes to the distinct character and excellence of our wines. This hands-on approach reflects our commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship throughout the entire winemaking process. We also occasionally source grapes from select Pennsylvania vineyards to complement our estate-grown fruit. This allows us to adapt to seasonal variations, explore different styles, and expand our portfolio in a way that reflects both the character of our own land and the diversity of our region.
We focus on sustainability in the vineyard and winery. We utilize light cultivation under the vines for weed control. We have wildflower and beneficial native plantings that surround the vineyard to attract beneficial insects and birds, which help keep pests at manageable levels. Additionally, we allow all grape skins, stalks, and pruning materials to break down and then spread beneath the vine rows. Ultimately, the estate is our home, our family lives here, and we aim to keep the land, soil, vineyard, and surrounding ecosystem healthy.
Being located in Southeast PA, we are lucky that once the vines are established, irrigation is usually not necessary. The vineyard soil is our most important asset. We strive to minimize soil compaction in the vineyard and spread compost and organic matter annually to replenish any nutrients removed during harvest. All of our pruning cuttings are removed from the vineyard, shredded, and allowed to break down over a few years. The shredded prunings are then mixed with winemaking waste, such as seeds and skins, along with finished compost, and further allowed to break down before being reintroduced beneath the vines in the vineyard.

Our Wines & Winemaking Philosophy
Our family believes that great wine is born in the vineyard. We are dedicated winegrowers who focus on handcrafted wines that honor the land we farm. Through traditional winemaking methods and sustainable grape growing, we create wines that express a profound sense of place—also known as terroir.
We emphasize sustainable farming and a vineyard-centric approach to produce balanced grapes. This allows for minimal intervention during winemaking, resulting in delicious, balanced wines that showcase the unique characteristics of our land.
We grow Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot—all from ENTAV clones planted on Riparia rootstock. We focus on dry European inspired wines. We only grow vinifera grapes and believe these wines need the least intervention overall in the vineyard and winery. We do not make a ton of different wines. We focus on growing premium grapes and making artisan small lot wines from those grapes.
Terroir is what makes our wines distinctly ours. A "terroir wine" refers to a wine whose unique flavor profile is strongly influenced by the specific environment where the grapes were grown—factors like soil type, climate, topography, and other natural elements of the vineyard’s setting. Our site, climate, weather, vintage, grape growing practices, and the people who work the vineyard each season all leave their mark on the season’s wines. Ultimately, it’s a wine that tastes like it came from a particular place, reflecting its unique terroir.
To keep your wine at its best, store it in a cool, dark place with a consistent temperature. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause premature aging, and keep the bottle on its side to maintain the cork’s moisture. A wine fridge or cellar is a great option for longer-term storage. Once opened, most wines are best enjoyed within a few days—just reseal the bottle tightly and store it in the refrigerator to preserve freshness.
Yes. But very little. And each year we have been decreasing the overall amount as new natural preservatives/alternative processing methods are being developed and have found these new products to be extremely efficient and better at preserving the wines natural characteristics.
